Palkonya is located in the southern Hungarian district of Baranya and situated on the northeastern foothills of the Villány Mountains. The municipality has 350 inhabitants and is a founding member of the “Villány-Siklós” wine tasting association. Not only the listed wine-cellars, the fiery red wines and the hospitality of the winegrowers, but also the birdlife and the tranquillity of the nearby fishponds attract more and more tourists every year. Palkonya is a small “jewelry box” and was in 2007 European cultural village.
